Confirmation at Faith is a three
year program for students in grades 7-9, with the service to celebrate their
Affirmation of Baptism taking place in the fall of their 10th grade
year.
These youth attend class on Wednesday
evenings and Sunday mornings, and learn about their faith, their baptismal
promises, and what it means to become a confirmed member of the church. Lesson topics include: The Old Testament, New Testament, Martin
Luther and the Reformation, Ten Commandments, Apostles' Creed, etc.
A look at a typical Wednesday schedule:
5:15pm Supper -- optional
6:00pm Large Group Activities -- game show, prizes, music, introduction to lesson
6:30pm Small Group Discussion -- relationship building and deeper discussion
7:00pm Worship service
7:30pm Goodnight
During Lent, students are paired up with a member of the congregation to be a mentor; they meet together over supper on Wednesday evenings to share faith stories and build a relationship.
Adult volunteers act as
Confirmation Guides for small groups during the year. This is a three year commitment.
Youth also participate in several service projects throughout the year.
Affirmation of Baptism service takes place the last Sunday in October, Reformation Sunday.
